Police were called to the Main Street area of the South Lanarkshire town at around 5.35pm on Friday, September 6, following reports of an incident involving a number of people.

A man has been rushed to hospital following a disturbance 'involving a group' near a Wetherspoon pub in Rutherglen.

A spokesperson said: "An investigation is under way following a report of a disturbance in Rutherglen. Around 5.35pm, police were called to Main Street, Rutherglen where a group of people were involved in a disturbance."A 54-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and a 44-year-old man was treated at the scene.
