Some 300 workers are affected by the closure of the facility's two Lancaster County locations.
Retreat Behavioral Health closed its doors last week in Lancaster County , leaving some 300 employees out of work.The facility treated patients with mental health and substance abuse problems. The top executives died amid financial problems and the treatment facility closed its Ephrata and Akron locations.Employee Cass Phelan said they are heartbroken. 'I know a lot of people are angry, of course, but everyone's just heartbroken,' she said.
Karissa Burkhart loved working there as well and said employees were last paid in early June. 'My rent was due yesterday, and I still haven't been able to pay it. It's hard,' she said.Help is on the way. Lancaster County Workforce Development Board and PA CareerLink are teaming up with the state's Rapid Response Team to help employees sign up for unemployment and find new jobs.
