A new report from ANZ and CoreLogic shows since the pandemic rental prices have increased dramatically, and low-income earners would need to spend more than half their pay to secure a rental property.

"Across regional New South Wales, you have … one of the worst measures of rental affordability behind Hobart." Ms Owen said a drop-off in investment buying and previous regional migration had put pressure on the market."And I think, as well as making sure that the most vulnerable are taken care of, we need to take a serious look at how we provide rental accommodation in Australia.""We were finding that as time went on, rent was pretty much 50 per cent of our income or more," she said.
