David Liptrot had a huge list of previous convictions
Five days before he brutally killed his partner, David Liptrot tried to have a restraining order against her lifted. The 55-year-old, of Shelley Close, Coppull, Lancashire , was no stranger to the justice system before murdering Caroline Gore, from Wigan .
In 2018 and 2021 he was convicted for domestic violence incidents against former partners, Mr Bassano said. The following year, he turned his anger to Ms Gore. In August 2022, Liptrot was handed a two-month prison sentence for battery against his partner. Back out of prison, it wasn't long before Liptrot was back before the courts. He was handed a suspended prison sentence for breaching the restraining order on October 3, 2023, weeks before he would go on to kill Ms Gore.
The court heard Liptrot became 'agitated' and 'banged forcefully' on the women's toilet door as he tried to find her. While Ms Gore made her way to the Dog and Partridge pub in Wigan, Liptrot went to her flat at Douglas House at around 8pm. But the moment he began singing along to Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline, the fellow punter became 'sickened' and told the landlord of Liptrot's confession. As word spread in the pub, Liptrot said: "If there is ever big problems, you get rid of them, you get shut."
