Around 22 counties, from the north to the south, could see a snowfall within a few days. At 9pm on Saturday, December 21, West Morland, Lancashire and Yorkshire may experience up to 1cm of snowfall per hour. As we move into the early hours of Sunday, December 22, Cheshire, Stafford and Derbyshire could all witness snowfall, with depths predicted to reach up to 2cm. By 6am, Oxford, Buckinghamshire and large parts of the North West could wake up to a blanket of snow.
As the day ends, Surrey, Sussex, Greater London, Essex, Hertford and areas of the North West are all forecasted to see snowfall, with up to 1.5cm predicted per hour. Weather maps suggest large parts of the West and East Midlands will be covered by a blanket of snow at midnight on Monday, December 23.
Large parts of Wales and Scotland are also expected to see heavy snowfall this weekend.
