Joel Verite ran to save children from the knife attack on Hart Street in Southport
A heroic window cleaner has opened up on the moment he helped save children from the Southport knife attack. Joel Verite was on his lunchbreak yesterday when his colleague noticed the horrific incident unfolding on Hart Street. Three children named Alice Dasilva Aguiar, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Bebe King have died from their injuries, which took place as they were attending a sold out Taylor Swift dance class at the The Hart Space community hub and pregnancy care centre.
He told Sky News: 'I run towards the door, the entrance and exit to the dance studio. There were two men in the gym where I used to go to…they’re pointing to the dance studio saying ‘he’s in there’. “I open the door downstairs … there’s a guy at the bottom of the stairs with a full tracksuit, his hood up, with a knife. We’ve looked at each other and he’s scurried off to the side.
