Terrafirma coach John Cardel is confident that the Dyip management will be able to strike a deal with Filipino-American guard Stephen Holt, more than two weeks after making him the top overall pick in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft.
Negotiations between the camp of Holt, represented by his Filipino agent Marvin Espiritu and Terrafirma management has been going back and forth shortly after draft day.'We're expecting to have him since by late this week, and hopefully, sometime next week, Stephen will be able to come to Manila already,' Cardel told the Manila Times.Holt, the 31-year-old standout from Saint Mary's, is currently in Portland, Oregon.
The Dyip mentor sees the 6-foot-4 Holt as an impact player, who can play in multiple positions.'He can play multiple positions and could even be our small forward and a very solid scoring option outside Juami ,' noted Cardel, whose team also welcomed Belgian Thomas De Thaey on Monday night. The 6-foot-8 De Thaey will serve as the Dyip's import for the upcoming Commissioner's Cup, which will kick off the PBA's Season 48.
