The organisation is playing its role in ending Scotland's housing crisis ad
At Homes for Scotland, we recognise the importance of home and what it means for the social well-being of all those who live here.
Our recent Awards showcased what it is about new homes of all tenures that make them so important to our communities, recognising the excellent work and innovation taking place across our sector, helping to raise the bar for others to follow. As the representative body for organisations building the vast majority of new homes in Scotland , this is a responsibility that we take incredibly seriously.
This has had me pondering the fundamental importance of home and what it means to each and every one of us. There are many quotes about this, but my favourite is by the author Laura Ingalls Wilder who said simply: “Home is the nicest word there is." Others describe it as “a warm, cosy blanket” and “a place of comfort and security."
That is why I am making it my mission to ensure this is an issue owned by all of civic society. Each of us has a vital role to play in ending our housing crisis and, in so doing, helping to eradicate homelessness and child poverty, tackle the effects of climate change and promote inclusive growth.
