Jo Booth, a 61-year-old who dedicated 20 years to helping the homeless, won an 18th-century Georgian country house and £250,000 cash prize in an Omaze raffle. She plans to spend Christmas in her new home with family and friends, calling it 'the best Christmas ever'. While she will likely sell the house to secure a financial legacy for her family, she is enjoying the festive season in her luxurious new surroundings.

A gran who worked with homeless people for 20 years is set to enjoy “the best Christmas ever” in a £2.5 million home she won in a draw.

“Even though we’re actually sitting here surrounded by our own things and the dog is running around, it still feels like we’re dreaming," she said. “I love Christmas, so the first thing we did was get the decorations up - we got five trees this year."The second thing we did was get the wine fridge fully stocked. We’re going to have everyone up here for a mega Christmas party, it’s going to be a night to remember.

She continued: “This win means we’ll never have to worry about money ever again - it’s a dream come true. Thanks to the £250k we also got as part of our win, we have options - we could afford to stay here for ten years if we decided to. She has been married to husband Will Harrop, 51, for 17 years and the couple have lived in their three-bedroom house in Dorset, that Will built himself, for the past 15 years.

As well as making Jo a multi-millionaire, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Yorkshire, raised £3.9million for Mencap. “Omaze offers people the chance to win amazing houses, like this incredible house in Yorkshire, whilst also introducing charities to large new audiences that would otherwise be out of reach – it’s a win-win for entrants and charities.
