A fifth signing of the summer for the Hornets watfordfc
The Hornets have been in talks to bring the 25-year-old left-back to Vicarage Road and have been successful in signing him for the forthcoming Championship campaign.
The announcement of the move has been expected after Magpies boss Eddie Howe confirmed the deal had been all but done earlier this week. With James Morris as the only recognised left-back in the first-team squad, Watford have needed to strengthen that position and Lewis becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer following Rhys Healey, Tom Ince, Jake Livermore and the return on loan of Matheus Martins.
The defender was born in Luton and made his debut for Norwich City at the end of 2017. He went on to make 100 league and cup appearances for the Canaries before moving to Newcastle in September 2020. Lewis made 26 appearances in his first season on Tyneside, but has found his first-team opportunities increasingly limited since, making just two Premier League appearances last season.
