Strong winds are expected to hit the region
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Merseyside today. Storm Darragh is expected to bring strong winds to the region and an amber weather warning is in place from 1am until 9pm today with gusts of 70mph to 80mph are likely. Forecasters have warned of potential power cuts and winds with the capacity to cause damage to buildings. On its website, the Met Office said: 'Damage to buildings and homes is possible, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down.
' The forecaster has advised people to protect property and people from injury by checking loose items outside homes are secure. These items include bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds, and fences.
