He refuses to follow trends or chase the charts
He gets namechecked by superstar DJs from Green Velvet to Fatboy Slim, Laurent Garnier to Charlotte de Witte, has worked with Depeche Mode and Nitzer Ebb and soundtracks award-winning movies and TV shows... so how come Phil Kieran isn’t a household name except, maybe, in his own household?
“To be like a tuning fork and ask, ‘What’s in my chest? If I were to describe what’s inside me, and what’s going on in the outside world, if I had to score that in a film, what would it sound like right now?’. I guess I sort of soundtracked my own life. It was a highlight of the year, one of those great moments when everything just came together. The performance “bridged the realms of electronic and classical compositions, taking the audience on an unforgettable journey. The live recording of The Strand Cinema with the Ulster Orchestra captures the essence of this experience, inviting listeners to reflect on the ever-evolving relationship between humanity and the digital age”.
“You can commit to the idea that we’re just animals who eat and f*** and then we die, and that’s fine. But for me, creativity always seems to be the best way of articulating the absolute minefield of what human existence is.” The 24-year-old is a kind of spokesman for his generation on neurodivergence and all things LGBTQ+ – and his music is pretty bang-on as well. Reared on a diet of power pop and emo, there are big nods to this in his much of Noahfinnce’s work, but there are urban, hip hop and EDM vibes in the mix for good measure. Transgenre, perhaps?
