Australian Grand Prix boss Andrew Westacott and Haas team principal Guenther Steiner have both given their predictions for Oscar Piastri as he lines up as the lone Australian on the grid at Albert Park this weekend.

Aussie fan favourite Daniel Ricciardo will not be racing in Melbourne for the first time since 2011 and leaves the hometown hero duties to Piastri.

Oscar Piastri will race at Albert Park as an F1 driver for the first time this weekend. Picture: David Caird “He’ll be feeling pumped there’s no doubt… The really good thing I think is he’s had the two races at the start of the season in Bahrain and Jeddah and he’s already got better and better in each of those,” he said.

Steiner’s honestly continued as he made a prediction for his team, conceding there was “zero” chance a Haas car would be the first to cross the line on Sunday.“Winning for us, we are still the youngest team on the grid, will take a few more years,” the cheeky team principal said. Steiner – who has won the hearts of F1 fans through his antics in the Drive to Survive series – remained optimistic about the year ahead after struggling in previous seasons.
