In a break from tradition, Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys has made the bold call that Victoria could be an option to host the 2023 NRL grand final. NRL 7NEWS
, V’landys is open to playing the grand final at the MCG, declaring “it could be an option for us”.
Victoria is pushing to host numerous 2027 Rugby World Cup matches and already boasts an impressive list of big sporting events, including the upcoming Australian Formula One Grand Prix, AFL grand final and Melbourne Cup. The Penrith Panthers celebrate their 2022 grand-final victory over the Parramatta Eels at Accor Stadium in October.“Peter also said recently: ‘I haven’t got a deal for the NRL grand final.’ It’s a purely commercial decision. Our phone hasn’t rung,” McClements said.
