Country-wide campaign continuing to raise cash to replace books after County Road arson attack
A huge amount of money has poured in to help replace books lost in a Liverpool library set alight by rioters over the weekend. The Spellow Hub Library in County Road was engulfed in flames on Saturday night during appalling scenes of violent disorder and looting in the area. The Spellow Hub Library reopened last year after investment from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
' At the time of writing this article, the fundraiser - which had an initial target of £500 - has raised £45,000. The campaign has drawn support from some famous names as well, with television food writer and cook Nigella Lawson contributing £500 to the cause. Screenwriter and novelist Frank Cottrell-Boyce has also donated to the fund.
