It was unclear whether the remains discovered in Mount Vernon were related to an ongoing case.
The remains, found in Mount Vernon, according to a Mobile County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, were found off of E. Coy Smith Highway and Shepard House Road, WKRG
The spokeswoman told AL.com that while deputies with the office’s crime scene unit are assisting Mount Vernon police, the sheriff’s office is not handling the entire investigation, so she did not know whether the remains are tied to an ongoing case.
