Era of SNP dominance is over with big implications for Scottish independence, poll suggests
Humza Yousaf’s “personal lack of popularity” is helping Labour eat into the SNP’s vote in Scotland, it has been claimed, in the wake of a poll putting the two parties neck and neck.

At the time, her aim was to win more than 50.1 per cent of the overall vote – a highly risky strategy in itself – but with the SNP now looking set to lose seats, framing the election as an effective vote on independence would be an even bigger gamble. When the SNP leadership race began, the party was on 43 per cent support. This fell to 40 per cent by the time it ended and 38 per cent once Mr Yousaf had taken over as First Minister.
