EXCLUSIVE: Speaking to the Record, the First Minister said his concern was grounded in the Tory veto on gender recognition reform legislation.

Humza Yousaf has said he fears the UK Government could veto a Holyrood bill on banning conversion therapy.

It means trying to stop or suppress someone from being gay or from identifying as a different gender to their sex recorded at birth. Campaigners are waiting to hear whether a ban will be included in tomorrow’s Programme For Government - the Holyrood version of the King’s Speech. “Ending conversion practices shouldn’t be controversial because it was in I think every single party’s manifesto. If anybody has read any of the testimonies, as i have, the harrowing accounts of conversion practices, ....there wouldn’t be any opposition to banning them.”
