First Minister Humza Yousaf has joined a march through Edinburgh and will address the rally at Holyrood.
Thousands of independence supporters have gathered in the Scottish capital with Humza Yousaf set to address the rally.
Other SNP politicians are expected to join in with speeches as pictures from the top of the Royal Mile show huge crowds with flags and banners. They added: "We must give the people of Scotland the opportunity to express that support in a democratic vote. Independence supporters coming together, at key moments, to show that support is an important part of that journey.
Scottish actor Brian Cox was due to make an appearance at the event on Saturday but was forced to withdraw after testing positive for Covid-19. The 77-year-old said he was "absolutely gutted" to miss out as he wrote: "I am absolutely gutted to have to miss the Believe in Scotland rally which seems to be building into a pivotal moment for the independence movement.
