The First Minister said the SNP relied 'heavily' on its membership to finance its campaigning ahead of a crunch by-election next month.
Humza Yousaf has insisted the SNP is on a "steady financial footing" despite accounts showing it racked up an £800,000 deficit last year.
The deficit was the largest ever recorded by the SNP and coincided with a steep decline in its membership numbers in recent years. "I think it has been well rehearsed the circumstances within which I came to the party, and some of the challenges that the party faces, no doubting that.
