Humza Yousaf knows independence is off the radar as new reality kicks in for SNP

Daily Record Political Editor Paul Hutcheon says the new First Minster knows his challenge is increasing support for independence, not setting deadlines that cannot be met.

The SNP's fourth independence strategy this year is another example of Humza Yousaf trying to clear up the mess left by Nicola Sturgeon.

Yousaf persuaded conference delegates to lower the bar to a ‘majority’ of seats, but few people believe in the new policy. Nationalists became demoralised when the promises turned to dust and supporters of the UK saw them as a sign of a distracted Government.
