Hundreds of academics at WA's biggest university are walking off the job this afternoon as part of a long-running industrial dispute centred on casualisation, increasing workloads, cost of living and advancement for First Nations staff.

"We also want to make sure we secure better working conditions and security particularly for our First Nations staff." Hundreds of classes are expected to have been disrupted by today's industrial action at Curtin University. He said Curtin had also "disgracefully gone backwards on First Nations employment", with just 1.9 per cent of current staff Indigenous, compared with 2.1 per cent in 2021.
