The demonstrators turned out in response to a planned gathering to oppose the housing of refugees in the town.

Demonstrators told the far-right there is no place for hate on the streets of Paisley – after turning out in their hundreds to counter a planned protest in the town.

A diverse crowd of around 200 people gathered in the car park from 5.30pm to pre-empt any action by the SDG – with asylum seekers in the hotel watching on and posting messages of thanks on the windows of the building.
