Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini spoke about the 115 Premier League charges facing the club

Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes fans will be happy with how their club was run as the Blues face incredible serious Premier League charges from his time at the club.

City are alleged to have misrepresented their finances for a period of nine years in total, including the time between 2013 and 2016 when the Chilean managed the club. If the allegations are believed at a hearing later this year, the Premier League champions could face expulsion from the top flight with all of the trophies won during that time questioned.

Pellegrini, in charge of Real Betis since 2020, had to work with a smaller squad than he would have liked after City and UEFA agreed a settlement over Financial Fair Play in 2014. However, he still believes that City fans will be pleased with how their club has been run under Sheikh Mansour.READ MORE: Savinho aims for speedy Man City debut and dream Wembley appearance

"I am sure the fans of Manchester City are really happy with the way the club works and the way they play and the trophies they have won during all these years," he told BBC Sport. "Always you have criticism about a lot of things." Pellegrini replaced the popular Roberto Mancini at City in 2013 but quickly won fans round with a swashbuckling style of football that included two strikers and saw his team break the record for the quickest team in Premier League history to score 100 goals in a single campaign. He won the league and league cup in his first season and added another league cup in 2016 as well as taking the club to the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the first time in their history.
