Strathbungo in the south side of Glasgow was named as the coolest neighbourhood in the city and one of the coolest in the whole world - I live there and it's not hard to see why
It's not every day that your local neighbourhood makes the news, with familiar faces from local shops and businesses singing its praises.
The experts suggest that a variety of factors contribute to a neighbourhood's 'cool' status. Of course, having cafes, bars and restaurants is essential, but it's no longer enough - the area must also reflect the community and culture of the city, offering something for everyone to enjoy. Pollokshaws Road also hosts Gusto and Relish, 721 Hinba, Grain and Grind, and Sunnyacre - all top-notch choices for your morning coffee and pastry needs.
While the area may not boast as many late-night bars as the city centre - one of the few downsides of living here, in my view - there are still plenty of fantastic spots to spend an evening. Cosy bars abound here, from the Allison Arms to Koelschip Yard, so you'll never be short of places to visit. A mere five-minute walk will land you in the lush beauty of Queen's Park, which becomes even more breathtaking as the leaves begin to change.
While Strathbungo may not have the same level of prestige as some areas in Glasgow's west or south, it exudes a strong sense of identity and has so much to offer. It's no wonder it's been recognised as one of the coolest places in the world.
