Social housing tenants say plans to increase their fees by 44% have ruined their Christmas. Magenta Living, which has been criticised over the rises in recent weeks, said it was reviewing charges where appropriate. Magenta Living is the largest social housing provider in Wirral , housing just under 10% of its population. It is currently engaging with its tenants on a number of charges it wants to bring in from March 2025 with a consultation closing on January 3.
' The woman, who is paying £200 a month, added: “It's absolutely freezing in here. Most of us have black mould and water coming through because they have taken all the cladding off.' Phillip Brightmore who lives in Vittoria Court said Magenta had told them their rent was going up by £45 a week, a rise of 44%, and a decision had already been meeting, adding: 'The room was full of baffled and frightened residents who were aghast at these comments.
