Energy suppliers are giving customers free electricity over the festive period – here’s how to claim

Two major energy suppliers have announced they’re giving thousands of customers free electricity over Christmas. E.On Next will be giving households free electricity on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. And the supplier is waiving standing charges over the three-day period, too.Heres’s who’s eligible and how to get your free festive electric.

A fixed tariff means you pay a set rate for your energy. Many households are on variable tariffs instead. This means the rate you pay for energy changes throughout the year based on the Ofgem energy price cap. So E.ON’s fixed plan could save you money on your bills year-round, as well as getting you free Christmas electricity.

Before you decide if you want to switch to E.ON’s account though, it pays to take a look around at other fixed price energy deals. Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert website has a useful energy deal comparison tool.
