Trish Hinde was just six years old when her dad asked her to get into bed with him
When Trish Hinde woke each day as a child she had a few moments of peace before she would be hit by a familiar sense of dread.
The next morning, he called her into his bedroom again. This time, he made her take her clothes off and touch him. When she was just seven years old, Trish was raped in her living room. The little girl cried in pain while her dad told her he would go to prison if anyone ever knew what he had done. Over the three years she was abused, Trish claims she opened up to a loved one, a teacher, a social worker, a therapist and a sexual abuse charity. However, she says she was let down time and time again.
The now mum-of-four endured the assaults for three years until her parents split up at the age of nine. She didn’t realise she had been abused until her first sex education class at school. Trish added: "The main turning point was having my daughter. When I had her, I was watching Craig like a hawk. I didn’t want him changing her nappy or anything. I was just on him all the time.In 2021, King was finally arrested and charged with the abhorrent abuse he had carried out all those years ago. In April 2022, he was found guilty of rape, five counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child.
