The SpeedComfort radiator fans claim to heat the room up in 'half the time while saving energy' - but do they work?
There's nothing quite as miserable as feeling chilly in your own home. Whether it's due to sky-high bills or radiators that just aren't up to the job, it's infuriating to be left shivering when all you want to do is relax.
While it's fine once the radiators get going, it does take longer than I'd like, and it's not ideal when you come in from the cold wanting to warm up straight away. With so many gadgets on the market promising to boost your home's heating, I was intrigued when I got the chance to try out the SpeedComfort radiator fans.
I had two sets of the SpeedComfort radiator fans to test on the two double radiators in my living room. They connect together via a wire, so only one plug is needed for each fan set. When you stand near a radiator, there's certainly a warmer plume of air rising that's noticeably stronger than usual. While the original setup was capable of adequately heating the room, what the fans have done is significantly reduce the time it takes to reach a comfortable temperature.
While they deliver as promised, their high cost could make them an impractical solution for many. The fans are available in three sizes, and while they might appeal to those looking to cut down on bills, the hefty initial investment could take a considerable time to offset through energy savings. Additionally, you'll need a power socket within reach of the radiator to plug the fans in. While I'm not a fan of visible wires as they can look a bit unsightly, I've done my best to hide them.
