The Times journalist Giulia Crouch decided to review a range of fresh pastas from Aldi, Waitrose and Sainsbury's to find out once and for all which was the best - and the results were surprising
Exhausted workers returning from a long day are increasingly seeking out quick, simple yet satisfying meal options—a trend reflected in the surging popularity of fresh filled pasta at grocery stores nation-wide. With choices like tortelloni, ravioli, and cappelletti filling the shelves, the biggest challenge for consumers now is deciding which variety to indulge in.
The Times journo Giulia Crouch sampled an array of fresh stuffed pastas from providers including Aldi, Waitrose, and Sainsbury's, and discovered that one brand notably surpassed the others. The Aldi meal scored a commendable four out of five stars, but the Waitrose Prosciutto Cappelletti, priced at £3.60, didn't fare as well, with the reviewer describing it as "passable" and criticising the "gristly texture" of the meat. The reviewer suggested: "There is a nice sweet saltiness that comes from the prosciutto but to get the best from these I'd suggest cooking them for a bit longer than recommended and serving in a light meat broth.
