The heat of the McSpicy burger is extremely deceptive at first
Well it clearly works on some level, because earlier this week I found myself with an uncontrollable urge to visit the place with the golden arches. And given there's a new menu, I thought I'd be a bit more adventurous - if you can be such a thing while visiting McDonald's.
McDonald's is keen for diners to enter into a debate over the heat of the burger - is it too hot to handle? But given that the chain is hardly known for its extreme flavours, I wasn't convinced. There was minimal sauce and lettuce, which I was initially disappointed about, but actually if you have too much of either of these it can leave your burger soggy. And nobody wants that.
It seemed to be a crispy chicken burger with a Nando's Mild style kick, until I took another few bites. It was weird, it seemed the spiciness is a delayed reaction, and three bites was what was needed for some fire in my belly.
