I went to Shadwell because lots of the village's roads are 20mph restricted
Leeds City Council brought 20mph zones and speed limits in residential areas in Leeds a few years ago, to make Leeds a child friendly city, to improve transport and infrastructure and to improve health and wellbeing. These schemes were also a huge part of the council's 'Safer Roads Action Plan' in a bid to reduce accidents on the roads.
All the adopted streets in the village are: Ash Hill Drive, Ash Hill Gardens, Ash Hill Garth Ash Hill Lane, Blind Lane, Church Farm Garth, Cricketers Fold, Crickelers View, Crofton Rise, Gateland Drive, Hastings Court, Hollywell Lane, Ludolf Drive, Main Street, Manor Court and Old Brandon Lane. But when I got onto some residential streets the roads were much wider and a lot fewer people were around, meaning it felt pretty slow to be tootling along at 20mph - although you could argue it was a very built up area with children potentially playing out in the streets.
