47-year-old defendant Chad Zurlo testified at his second-degree murder trial on Tuesday.

The two men lived in a house off Gold Claim Avenue that Corcoran was renting, with Zurlo and his girlfriend, Serena Vallier, subleasing a bedroom-like space in the downstairs that did not have a door. Zurlo testified Corcoran became so livid that his face turned a purplish hue as he followed Zurlo around the room, enraged and preventing Zurlo from exiting the room.
The defendant also denied telling his girlfriend that he had “snapped,” a verb she told officers he had used in conversation following the shooting.
