It’s 5pm on a sunny Thursday afternoon on Oxford Street and Primark, a gleaming temple to fast fashion occupying half-a-block of prime real estate, is heaving. You can’t move for people trailing wheeled shopping baskets loaded with tees, shoes and jeans – there’s even a queue at the checkout, despite there being more tills than my local supermarket.
