King Charles is set to avoid family politics in his first Christmas speech
This year, however, is obviously significant: it will be the first time King Charles has delivered a Christmas Day message to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. And it will be exactly 90 years since his great grandfather, King George V, began the tradition by broadcasting a radio message, live from Sandringham. His speech, which had been written by Rudyard Kipling, celebrated the power of the wireless to “unite all the people of the Empire”.
