Lisburn Senior Gateway Club is a self-funded registered charity which meets up every week
Last Wednesday, October 2, the members took part in a special event set up by easyJet staff to give them the experience of being on a plane - all while never leaving the hall. The event was organised by Christine McClements, volunteer at the club for 10 years and easyJet cabin crew member.following the event, Christine said the members loved it, and that it helped many who may be afraid to fly.
"We then got them all to sit down and we had the room set up with chairs on either side and an aisle down the middle. Christine said they're always looking for unique and exciting events for their members. Lisburn Gateway Club is a registered charity and fully self-funded, and on October 13, volunteers at the club are abseiling down the Europa Hotel in Belfast to raise vital funds.
As for what she loves about volunteering each week at the club, she said:"The members and the other volunteers keep me going. I have a friendship with all the volunteers and members, they're amazing people. It's also great to do something a wee bit different and the club helps give some respite for carers.
