Northern Territory police have thanked the efforts of two children who were quick to call triple-zero when they spotted an alleged abduction of a five-year-old boy on a suburban Darwin street. 7NEWS
Police have arrested a 37-year-old man, believed to be the child’s stepfather and 56-year-old woman, known to the child.
The child’s mother was taken to hospital in a stable condition, after falling on the road when she tried to intervene. “Police would like to commend the incredible actions of a young boy and girl who witnessed the incident on Witherden Street and contacted police,” he said. “This information was vital in allowing our officers to begin tracking the vehicle quickly, resulting in a positive outcome.”Police said they received reports a five-year-old boy was abducted from Witherden Street, Nakara, by his stepfather and a woman known to the child at 3pm.
