Intern, 27, knifed to death while walking a dog in ‘random attack’

AN INTERN was stabbed to death while walking a dog in Washington DC in what appears to be a “random attack”, cops said.

Margery Magill, 27, was fatally knifed multiple times in the back after being attacked by a “stranger” on the street at 9pm on Tuesday.Cops arrested Eliyas Aregahegne, 24, for the killing on Wednesday and charged him with first degree murder, authorities said. Police said they believe the stabbing was a random attack and not an attempted robbery or sexual assault, according to NBC.After being knifed, she dropped the dog leash and stumbled her way across the street before collapsing to the ground.Neighbours have told how they heard screams when the young woman was attacked.

“I came downstairs and came out with my wife and all we saw was a dog across the street with a leash and no human and we knew something was wrong,” he added.Margery attended the University of California, Davis, and was in Washington for an internship, according to reports. Her sister, Raeann Magill, said Margery had thrived off the energy of the nation’s capital.“You know, out walking a dog and to be attacked like that.

“She loved the city. She loved the energy. She really wanted to build her career here and thrive off of the energy that was Washington, D.C.”We pay for your stories! Do you have a story for The Sun Online news team? Email us at
