The Ministry of Justice confirmed the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman is investigating after a man died on July 8
An investigation has been launched after a man died inside HMP Liverpool. The Ministry of Justice has confirmed to the ECHO that a man called Brian Holland, aged 53, died at the Walton prison earlier this month. A Prison Service spokesperson told the ECHO : 'Brian Holland died on July 8 at HMP Liverpool . As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate.
However, no further information has been released at this time regarding the nature of his death. A separate investigation by the ombudsman remains ongoing at the prison after three men took their own lives in the space of two weeks in July 2023. The most recent inspection report by HM Inspectorate of Prisons praised its 'caring culture'.
