A helicopter was deployed to search for the missing woman and a specialist diver was deployed
An Irish tourist, believed to be in her 60s, has died after a drowning incident off the coast of Sardinia in Italy.
The Sardinian Fire Service said that a helicopter was deployed to search for the missing woman and a specialist diver was deployed to retrieve her body once it was located in the sea. The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the Irish Mirror it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
An intensive search operation launched last Friday was called off on Sunday when a firefighters' canine unit made the discovery in a remote area of the island.
