The Israel Defence Forces has reissued an 'urgent' call for people in northern Gaza to leave before an operation it says will 'neutralise the threat of Hamas with precision and intensity'. It comes after the most intense night of strikes on Gaza since the conflict began.

An official from the Norwegian Refugee Council says the organisation has lost contact with their 54 staff members in Gaza. Samah Hadid, the organisation's advocacy head for the Middle East, told Sky News she is 'really worried' about staff but also Palestinian civilians in Gaza. 'The situation is horrifying. It's terrifying,' she said.'Israel's bombardment was the heaviest since the start of the conflict and was on a scale never seen before.

'Reports show that people couldn't reach emergency support because they were under heavy bombardment.'She said when she last contacted staff in Gaza, they said the situation was 'catastrophic'. 'There's not enough aid coming through - it is nowhere near enough to meet the humanitarian needs. People are struggling to find food and water and shelter, including our staff,' she said.
