Debbie Duncan has flown out to Tenerife to help the search for her son
The mum of Jay Slater has issued an update on a GoFundMe page which has raised £32,000 as the search for the teenager enters its second week.
Jay told her he didn’t know where he was, he was thirsty and that his phone battery was on 1 % of charge. Lucy told him to go back where he came from and get help. Jay’s phone died at 8.50am and he was reported missing at 9.04am. An update on the fundraiser page posted yesterday said: “Hi everyone, this is Debbie, Jay's mother. Thank you all for your generosity and kindness during this difficult time. I wanted to confirm that this is the only GoFundMe fundraiser approved by our family. We have not yet withdrawn any funds and are currently covering the expenses, such as the trip to Tenerife and accommodation, ourselves. The funds will remain on hold with GoFundMe until we post a further update on this page.
