Jermaine Jenas says his dismissal from the BBC is now in the hands of his lawyers in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT.
Jermaine Jenas insisted ‘there are two sides to every story’ as he spoke to talkSPORT after his sacking by the BBC .and England midfielder was dismissed from his presenting and punditry roles with The One Show and Match of The Day on Thursday.This was due to allegations he sent unsolicited messages to a female colleague.He remained on air and addressed the storm surrounding his BBC departure afterwards in a brief interview with talkSPORT’s news team."I can’t really talk about it,” he said.
The broadcaster's Director of Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, sent a short email to staff on Thursday, writing minutes after the news broke: “Hi all, I wanted to let you know that Jermaine Jenas is no longer working for the BBC.” “Like I said, I’m going to speak to my lawyers about this situation,” he said. “I definitely, as you can see by my reaction, I’m not happy at all about the outcome of this.“It’s hard, you know,” he continued. “There’s definitely two sides.”
“I can’t talk about that right now. I’ve just got to leave this to my team of lawyers at the minute who are I suppose managing the situation,” he said.Quizzed on whether he sees any reason why he would not be able to continue in the sports presenting industry or in broadcasting, he said: “I can’t talk about that right now.”Jenas earned 21 England caps during his career and played in the Premier League for Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
