The flight was heading to Fuerteventura A Jet2 flight heading from Leeds Bradford Airport to the Canary islands has landed after a ‘general emergency’ was reported shortly after takeoff. The plane had departed around 9am today before landing at the East Midlands Airport minutes later. Operations Director at East Midlands Airport Simon Hinchley said: ‘A flight had to make an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport this morning, this was dealt with in line with our emergency procedures.
‘We are working to ensure the affected passengers can continue their journey as soon as possible. ‘The aircraft landed safely, and customers will be transferred onto a standby aircraft and flown to their destination.’ This is a developing news story, more to follow soon… Check back shortly for further updates.
