Christopher Brown said his staff 'were very scared and very shocked'
A Leeds jeweller has spoken out on the shock and horror after masked thieves wielding a chainsaw broke into his shop.
Seacroft shoppers were left “disgusted” following the incident. Jeweller Chris, who has owned the shop, one of his nine branches, for 13 years, said the thieves were chasing away the shopping centre’s security guards with the chainsaw. The 53-year-old, who wasn’t at the shop at the time, said: “My staff were very scared and very shocked. They were angry at the same time – that people would do this.
Chris says he’d never heard of a chainsaw being used in a jewellery robbery before and believes the elaborate method of breaking into the window was used partly to intimidate. “On the CCTV, you could see they were waving the chainsaw around and chasing off the security guards with the chainsaw.”
