The derelict property in Glencoe, Scotland, once owned by the infamous pedophile Jimmy Savile, was engulfed in flames on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Emergency services responded to the blaze, and the area surrounding the former residence was closed off to the public. This tragic event marks the end of a long and disturbing chapter in the history of this remote Scottish location.
The former residence of notorious pedophile Jimmy Savile in the Scottish Highlands has been consumed by a raging inferno. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the blaze tearing through the infamous house as emergency services raced to the scene. Firefighters were dispatched to the location in Glencoe , Scotland , shortly after 5:30 pm on Saturday, as initially reported by The Sun newspaper.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed, 'We received the call at 5:36 pm and have three fire engines on site.' Meanwhile, Police Scotland issued a statement confirming the closure of the area. Their spokesperson said, 'The A82 is shut in both directions between Tyndrum and Ballachulish Bridge following a report of a fire at a property around 5:40 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Emergency services are currently on the scene, and drivers are advised to avoid the area.' The abandoned house in Glencoe, once owned by Savile, stands as a stark reminder of his dark past. During the 13 years Savile owned Allt-na-Reigh, he frequently hosted guests at the remote property. He notably entertained the Prince of Wales for dinner in 1999 and even hired three waitresses dressed in aprons with 'HRH' embroidered on them. Following Savile's death in 2011, the property remained frozen in time until police raided it a year later in search of evidence related to his crimes. The scene inside the empty home was chillingly preserved, with the pervert's belongings scattered as if he had just left. A hairbrush, documents, an ashtray, and even his food were found strewn about. Other rooms in the cottage contained bunk beds and a double bed, all neatly made with fresh linens. The former residence has since become a grim tourist attraction for some hikers who visit the site. However, the building's deteriorating condition raises serious health and safety concerns. Recent images from inside the lair, where Savile is believed to have abused at least 20 victims, reveal collapsed ceilings, shattered walls, and piles of debris. At one point, the property was whitewashed in an attempt to deter vandals, but graffiti such as 'beast' and 'paedo' remains scrawled across its exterior walls. The house was slated for demolition following failed redevelopment plans and years of vandalism. Councillors approved the demolition last July, describing it as 'a stain on Scotland's most outstanding landscape.' After Savile's death, the small two-bedroom bungalow was put up for auction and sold for £212,000 to someone who intended to move in. The home was later purchased by Harris Aslam in 2021, the director of Green's grocery chain.
