Joe Rothwell 's long term future remains up in the air. The ball-playing midfielder says he is unsure where he will be plying his trade next season.
But Rothwell has exceeded all expectations at Elland Road, making 20 starts and eight substitute appearances in the Championship as the Whites continue to push for promotion. He dovetailed effectively with Ao Tanaka in the centre following injuries to Ampadu and Gruev between September and October to help keep United's promotion bid on track. As things stand, though, Rothwell is due to rejoin the Cherries in the summer.
“I made the decision with my wife to leave them, it’s been tough. I don’t get to see them as much as I’d like to but we knew it was a sacrifice we had to make. Hopefully next season we’re back together again. Rothwell will be hoping to retain his starting spot when the Whites visit Coventry City tonight, kick-off 7:45pm.
