Former footballer Joey Barton allegedly pushed his wife to the floor and kicked her in the head during a drunken altercation at their family home, as revealed in court. The 42-year-old former Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers midfielder is facing charges of assaulting his 38-year-old wife, Georgia Barton, in Kew, southwest London , in June 2021.
The argument, which escalated from a verbal disagreement about a family matter, reportedly began after Barton threatened to fight his wife's brother and father. As the couple socialized with two other couples while their children slept upstairs, the situation took a violent turn when Barton allegedly grabbed his wife, pushed her to the ground, and kicked her in the head. A friend attempting to intervene was reportedly shoved off by Barton, who warned him against disrespecting him.Following the incident, Mrs. Barton called the police shortly after 11:00 PM BST, reporting that she had been struck by her husband. A tearful Mrs. Barton informed the 999 call handler that her husband had just hit her inside the house and that he remained inside while she was outside. When questioned about previous occurrences, she stated that this was the first time such an incident had happened, adding that she had been hit in the face. Upon the police's arrival around 11:30 PM, Mrs. Barton relayed to the officers that she had been pushed down, kicked, and assaulted in other ways
