John Higgins made short work of He Guoqiang in his UK Championship opener on Tuesday, storming into the last 16 with a 6-0 win.
John Higgins was far too strong for He Guoqiang in York The 24-year-old has been impressive since joining the professional tour last year and was expected to be a stern test for the veteran. However, the Wizard of Wishaw dominated the contest and picked up a whitewash win with breaks of 110, 92, 72 and 64 along the way.
It was a thoroughly impressive performance from the four-time world champion, who finished with a pot success rate of 93 per cent. The three-time champion will return on Thursday to take on either Judd Trump or Neil Robertson in the last 16. The 49-year-old is searching for his first ranking title since the 2021 Players Championship and looking to add a fourth UK Championship to his collection 14 years after his last.
