José Ramírez smashed a pair of home runs and the Guardians routed the Tigers in Motown.
DETROIT — Stephen Vogt is fond of saying that there are no bad days in the major leagues — only “good days and great days.”
In the seventh, Ramírez smashed his second home run of the game and 26th of the season, tying Albert Belle for second on the club’s longball leaderboard. Ramírez said afterward that scoring early, especially against the Tigers, was important. Josh Naylor collected two hits in his first game back after missing Cleveland’s weekend series in Philadelphia. Vogt said getting contributions from both Naylor brothers was important.
Bibee, meanwhile, retired 16 of the first 18 batters he faced before Matt Vierling and Colt Keith got to him for back-to-back singles in the sixth. But Bibee got Justyn-Henry Malloy to bounce into an inning-ending double play before giving up a pair of late runs in the seventh.
